Mike Florio said today the agent and Fangio were not on the same page and it has caused some rift. Said he thinks the agent may have leaked it to the NFL network.  Who knows ... he will be here after the Super Bowl .... unless he's not.

This makes the most sense and best case scenario for us as it shows that Fangio isn't a headcase or a man who takes back his word. Like I mentioned briefly here before, teams, players and agents leak things to make themselves look good or to buy favor with the media for later use.

According to Joe Rose most of the unnamed sources are typically agents. The have every writers number on speed dial.

True, plus the fact that being truthful takes a back seat to saying whatever is in their client's (and their own) financial best interests.

Sources: Vic Fangio helping Eagles' Super Bowl prep on 2-week deal

Vic Fangio has been helping the Philadelphia Eagles prepare for Super Bowl LVII before he begins his new job as the defensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins.

Fangio signed a two-week contract with the Eagles after Philadelphia beat the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game, league sources told ESPN.

Rather than pack up for his move to Miami, Fangio spent the past two weeks in Arizona at the Philadelphia team hotel, helping Eagles coaches and players get ready for the Chiefs. More specifically, he assisted the offensive staff in their self-scouting process and supplied knowledge of the Chiefs' defense that he faced twice a year while he was the head coach of the Broncos from 2019 to 2021.

Since he is contractually tied to Philadelphia during this period, the 64-year-old Fangio would receive a Super Bowl ring if the Eagles beat the Chiefs on Sunday, which would mark the first ring of his decorated coaching career. The Eagles had approached Fangio earlier in the year about a consulting role, but he chose to keep his schedule flexible to enjoy his time away from the game.

After the Super Bowl, Fangio will head to Miami to sign his contract with the Dolphins.

Seems like all the people who were screaming that the Dolphins were being humiliated by Fangio may not have known what they were talking about.

I know his two week contract with the Eagles was exhausting but I thought we'd hear something yesterday. then I thought we'd hear something today. Hopefully we will hear something tomorrow and it's not he's decided against signing.

Bit premature of a thread but now two weeks later it is official.

LOL ... Channing Crowder just called it the longest hiring in NFL history. It will be nice to see him functioning as a Dolphin as he's kind of given the impression he was in no hurry to join us.

Now that it's done, this sounds like it was much ado about nothing.

He just had other commitments to fulful before making it official.  Maybe it was symbolic for his other team.  I don't make much of it.

But we're talking about the Dolphins and history says where's there is smoke there is likely a dumpster fire. Fortunately the McDaniel years are proving better.

X sounds like he is excited ...
“I feel like the defense is definitely going to elevate,” Howard said when speaking to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe. “I feel like every defense he had was in the top five, so I feel like he can do a lot of good things on defense and really put a lot of guys in a defensive position to make plays.”

There were a lot of usually reputable reporters saying he was interviewing with the Niners and Broncos after he supposedly agreed to take the Miami gig. Then, Fangio himself told the local Niners beat reporter that nothing has been decided. I don't think there was nothing to it, there was probably some hesitance. At his age, you never know when the next gig is your last stop.
