I had to google where he has been since he left the Dolphins.  I guess he did two seasons with the Chargers, but hasn't played since 2020.  So why this retirement announcement now?Huh

I think Mike is probably aware of the kind of love his brother has gotten in Pittsburgh (where he will likely make their Hall of Honor) and wanted a bit of acknowledgement himself.

He gets the Alumni jacket and is now part of the gang. As far as retiring he has to file paperwork with the NFL and it appears he hadn't done that. I like Mike and welcome him back with open arms! Hope to see him at a game.

I don't understand why this is necessary. I don't understand why a player can't just designate any former team as the team he wants to retire as. Is it really necessary to sign a completely bogus contract for this?
