"ESPN reports Tyreek Hill is being investigated for assault and battery stemming from an alleged incident at a Miami Beach marina.

Hill allegedly struck a man during an argument at the marina on Sunday. The Dolphins said in a brief statement that the team is aware of the allegation and "will reserve further comment at this time." Hill, 29, has a long history of violence. He was dismissed from the Oklahoma State football team in 2014 after being arrested and accused of domestic violence. His then-girlfriend alleged that Hill choked and punched her. In 2019, Hill was investigated for alleged battery that may have resulted in a broken arm for his three-year-old son. The NFL did not punish Hill for the incident after a medical investigation determined the boy's broken arm was an accident. We'll monitor this situation as it evolves this summer."

I genuinely did not know about past allegations as Tyreek is probably the best teammate in Dolphins history already, being the most positive person and even praising old teammates. That doesn't mean he is innocent now or didn't do anything in the past, but it's surprising nonetheless.

The "reserve further comment at this time" line is not good as Tyreek very likely hit the guy, although it's possible the guy struck him first and the team doens't want to make any statements that can be used in court.

Either way, can we have one offseason of only positivity?

I have no doubt Hill did this. I think nothing comes of it because I saw an article saying the other guy didn't want to pursue charges.

I call the phrase long history of violence quite the exaggeration though.

Not sure how "the broken arm was investigated and determined to be an accident" qualifies as "a history of violence."

I think when Hill punched his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach and face and choked her was history enough for many people.

It sounds like it was a slap to the back of his head and I'm pretty sure he will get off and the guy will get a new car or something. Drew Rosenhaus was with him and isn't going to let anything happen to him.

I read in one article it was a simple slap to the back of the head.

Given that the alleged victim didn't want to pursue the charges, unless there's some kind of concussion involved (LOL) then I'm not sure why the Police would waste time and resources on this.

As alarmed as I was when I first saw the headline, it looks more like a pure media beat up.

The police have concluded their investigation and told the guy that if he wants to pursue charges, he needs to take it up with the State's Attorney. Unless the NFL suspends Hill anyway, and never put anything past those assholes, this looks to be the end of it.

PFT is reporting this so it may not be over

“Despite a prior report from Fox Sports 640 that the alleged victim does not want charges to be brought, Angie DiMichele of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that the police report indicates that the alleged victim wants charges to be filed.“

The victim (the slappee?) realized (or more likely was told by his attorney) that there was a chance of working a settlement out of this and making some cash (for both of them).

It’s in the police report so it sounds like someone jumped the gun. It could have been added after the fact but who knows. Either way Hill needs to step up and pay the guy and grow up to be more responsible when drinking with his buddies. Not everyone is a fan of football. Guy might be a Jets fan for gosh sake! Hahaha

Interesting comments today by Mike Florio from PFT.  He said that the NFL can expand the punishment as they are allowed to use past history against the player even though Hill was in college when he did plead guilty to hitting his girlfriend. He also said it is very unlikely for Tyreek to get suspended this year. Said the NFL will wait until justice is complete before they start their discipline.
