The Suit

Mike Nolan wore a throwback suit like Lombardi for the 49ers.  This was the old-school.

Team Jacket / Windbreaker

These came out in different loud colors and patterns throughout the 90s.

The Sweater / Sweatervest

Sometimes accompanied by a coat, sometimes stand alone, always stylish.

The Polo

This business casual with khakis look remains popular today.

Athletic Gear

For more fit coaches, they'll sometimes wear a close-fitting Under Armor type getup.

The Hoodie

A casual look for the millenial generation.

The Homeless Look

When QBs report at 6AM, but you also slept in a dumpster.

I like the idea of coaches wearing athletic team gear like McVay.  It seems... on brand for both the coaching staff and the unavailable players to all be wearing the same stuff.

However, if you're an older (or fatter) coach, that would look silly.  I think in those cases, the polo is fine.  Team jackets or (non-homeless) hoodies are fine for inclement weather.

I think my favorite is the sweater, though admittedly, this does look kinda silly.

A funny related story is that over the last couple of years, I have bought several Dolphins/Sonics/Guardians polos that I wear to work, and when I'm wearing them out in the public (at lunch, shopping after work, etc.) I've had multiple people ask me if I work for the team I'm wearing.

I've noticed that since the new logo change, there are some really nice Dolphins polos available.  I love my current set.

I think suits are stupid at a football game and that goes for the owners box also. At least lose the tie and act like you can let loose some. I personally like the polo look. I wear some at work also.

Suits are never a good look for a game played on grass and dirt.  Why do you think in baseball, the manager and coaches where the same uniforms as the players?   

I've always favored the polo and khakis look, but the team athletic wear is growing on me, especially with the younger coaches.   The team coat/windbreaker is good for extreme cold weather.

If there's one thing I'd like to see, it's for NBA and NHL coaches to ditch their suits in favor of team polos.  And for chrissakes, quit making players travel in suits and ties.

Why do you think in baseball, the manager and coaches where the same uniforms as the players?

This is the dumbest thing in sports and only persists because baseball is ancient and has ridiculous rules.

Imagine Marv Levy or Andy Reid standing out there in a full uniform.  Or even worse, Jeff or Stan Van Gundy.

I still think there is a classy element involving wearing a suit as the head honcho to a game.

To do it in a basketball stadium is one thing... to wear it in the coldest of weather and not show a flinch... that's very impressive!
