https://www.foxnews.com/sports/patriots-fan-dead-being-involved-alleged-altercation-dolphins-fan-reports

I struggled with this headline, because I've read a few articles and the details aren't super clear.  They're still investigating.  Apparently, this guy was jawing with opposing fans throughout the end of the game, there was some kind of physical altercation and shoving and then a 2nd Dolphins fan punched (or sucker punched) the guy...maybe only once.  Then he just got knocked out and never woke up.

Lots of bozos and booze involved for something like this to happen.

What are people doing fighting at sporting events.  Jesus F'ing Christ, man.

People fight at sporting events all the time.   Too many people having too much to drink will do that.  And it's way too easy to smuggle liquor into a game, then mix it with soda.  I've done it several times.

With the alcohol flowing like that, it loosens everyone's tongues and brains too much.  Then guys start talking shit to each other, go from ragging on each other's teams to getting personal, somebody gets offended, somebody takes a swing, and next thing you know there's a whole brawl going on.  Later on, nobody can remember who started it or who said what.

I'm sure the police are going to look at both game film and security footage as there are cameras all over the place in NFL stadiums.

I'm with Dave on this.  The headline will be "Miami fan...(insert the rest)."  It really shouldn't be, it should be "two men fought."  They happened to be at a sporting event.  At the end of the day a person went to a sporting event and should have gone home to their family, they didn't.

The vast majority of people go to games, have a great time, and go home.  However - in my travels in my former life, across several sports, stadiums and complexes - I've seen some really unfortunate things due to the simple item of a person wearing another jersey (it's not always alcohol, unfortunately).  Outside of a minor league game, I'll never attend another game live again.

I'm sorry for this man's family.  53 years old, that is really sad.

It really shouldn't be, it should be "two men fought."

Except that isn’t what eyewitnesses are saying. It wasn’t to men fighting it was one person attacking the other.

I think the guy who died was in a scuffle.  He just wasn't in a scuffle with the guy who killed him.

I just want to go on record so I'm super clear:  I'm really not trying to rid the Dolphin fan of any wrongdoing.  ...can't be suckerpunching people.  I just wanted to also put in there the NE fan was involved in the aggression also.

When I found the original story, the headline was something like "Patriot fans dies at Sunday Night's Game".  And then everyone in the comments was saying that it should read "Dolphins fan murders Patriots fan".  I think both are wrong.

Don't go to games and get in fights.  It's not worth it, win or lose.

From what I'm seeing, the guy who died actually went over to the other section where he got into an altercation.   Had he stayed in his own section, things might've turned out differently.

So you are saying a bunch of guys wearing "Patriots" jerseys are saying the guy wearing a "Dolphin" jersey "started it."  Got it.

Except the Patriot fan, by all accounts, left his section.

Listen, at the end of the day this is two grown men.  What is weird is there are thousands -- thousands -- of other grown men who managed to go to the same game and didn't get into any type of altercation.  These two did, one paid for it with their life (which is awful).  The other is going to catch a case.  I think we have all been around too long, and have seen too much, to know the guy who swung didn't just walk up on some dude who was minding his own business.  Something happened.  Doesn't excuse it.  Shouldn't have happened.  But there was an action to cause the (massively irrational, and stupid) reaction.

I'm not going to look for other articles on this but the posted link says the Patricia fan was in his own section but that was from his wife so take that for what it's worth.

The medical ruling came out that he didn't die from trauma from the punch.  Heart attack, I think.

He also charged the Dolphin fans and not the other way around. It's tragic but not the horrible story they have been portraying.

Getting offended by something you see on the internet is like choosing to step in dog shite instead of walking around it.

It doesn't really change too much.

Don't be fighting either way.  It's a fucking game, you losers.

Go, talk shit, have fun, shake hands at the end....go get 'em next time.  I love passionate fans from other teams that give/take a ribbing.  Then you fist bump on the way to the car and live your life.  Fighting over football is crazy shit.

But I bet these people fight at bars, too.  They fight when they play sports.  It's a type.

Latest seems he had an underlying health problem the blows didn’t kill but it didn’t help.

Stupid and shameful for Miami and the Pats.  Absolutely embarrassing. Imagine getting killed over a pro sports game

If he died of a heart attack, who's to say he wouldn't have still died of a heart attack when the refs overturned Gesicki's 4th down play. People die everyday

If you have a heart condition and something happens that causes sudden stress and a rapid rise in blood pressure (a fight would be a perfect example) it can trigger a heart attack.  Not to mention that he was 53 and from the looks of him, I'll bet he wasn't exactly a model citizen when it came to diet and exercise.

That being said, I agree with Dave.   Fighting over a football game is really stupid and look what it can lead to.   Don't be surprised if the NFL steps in and severely restricts alcohol sales at games.
