Sanders.

Is it too early to look for another kicker?

Sanders' overall percentage is at the top of the Dolphins all time list.

Tua all day long. Can't have 2 turnovers in most games and still get away with it.

So was Carpenter's when he was let go.
And Mare's when he was let go.
And Stoyanovich's when he was let go.

The only thing this tells you is that kickers have gotten better over time.

I thought Tua had a pretty good game.  His had one outright bad throw that overthrew an open guy downfield, which was essentially a punt.  And he had a fumble on a scramble where he ran for a first down.  Other than that, he played very well, I thought.

I want to point out hidden yardage in this game.  Our punter sucked and theirs was great.  It was the difference of 20 yards every time the ball changed hands, so we had to out-offense them just to stay even.

On Sanders, he just isn't good anymore.  I can respect that he was a great kicker for a lot of years, but he isn't now.  I thought it was temporary but it seems to have gone on for years at this point.

Sanders missed a couple against the Pats at the start of the season which he should have made; and now he missed a 50 yarder against the Raiders which isn't exactly a gimme.  Otherwise he's made his kicks this year.  He's still a good kicker IMO, really just had one bad game against the Pats, which didn't cost them the game.

I'm just pointing out he isn't the trash people are making him out to be. Fans are too short sighted IMO.

I don't want to pick on the guy and it's hard, because kicking is a small sample size.

But he was 33% from 50+ for the last two seasons and he's exactly 1-3 again this year.  I think this is just who he is.

It's not the worst ever, but it's down from what he's been in his early career by a good margin and not at the quality of most of the other guys in the NFL now.

That said, Justin Tucker is 1-5 from 50+ this year, but he's perfect everywhere else and this could just be an off year.

Ultimately, I expect that Sanders' eventual replacement will surpass him on the all-time MIA list of kicker accuracy.

While it's expected that every kicker will occasionally miss, Sanders' timing for his misses has been brutal, even on XPs.
