$39 Million with $20.7 Million guaranteed.

I think this is a great deal for Miami. Probably way below what he would've gotten on the open market as there is always one team who will go something like 5 years/$115 Million out of desperation. Hunt and Williams are the other two big free agents on the line, so let's see if we can get that done too.

He's had a great season - the first one that he's really met most of our expectations since he's been drafted. Prior to this, he looked like a bona fide bust. It's a big change since the end of last season when the signs were he may have possibly quit on the team (like Byron Jones).

Thankfully this year he has shown this is not the case - if he continues to play at this kind of level with a healthy Hunt and Williams, this effectively nails down Tua's blind side for a while. It's a little bit of a bonus to have a left handed QB when most of the demand for tackles (and the highest salaries) in the league are for the left side of the line...

Speaking of which - didn't Williams hold out before the start of the season for a new contract? Did they get something sorted, or is he still a free agent for 2024 as things stand? Hopefully Hunt and Williams are also resigned soon.

Yeah, him and Hunt are both free agents after this season. Williams is currently the #1 center in football. Grier is going to have to use his negotiating skills to keep them both and somehow Wilkins and Van Ginkel as well. This is why "Championship or bust" is my hope for this season and nothing else. Windows are tight and we got a lot of high money talent right now, this could be a completely different team next year. Win it all now.

It's gonna be tough for Grier to figure out who/how to pay Tua, Wilkins, Williams, Hunt, and AVG next year.

I guess better coaching of the offensive line is turning some draft busts into quality players.

Guys like him tend to play to their potential in contract years, then go back to being a bust once they get the green.   I've seen it a thousand times over the years.   I'm hoping this guy is an exception to the rule.

Yeah, the coaching cannot be discounted. Hunt and Williams have been very good for years, but I feel the coach can turn a Top 20 Center into a Top 10 one. That is probably what is going to happen with some O-Line positions because we can't pay them all and Terron can't be cut this offseason.

Kind of funny but Tua called out "coaches" as being the teason so many players were failing when speaking about AJ's turnaround.

“I just smile because of where he’s come from early when we got here together,” Tagovailoa said, via Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post. “There’s a lot of things that have been said about him in front of team meetings, in the media and things like that. So, I’m just happy. I don’t want to get choked up about it. What he’s done is tremendous. What he’s done is tremendous. I’m very proud of him. Very happy.”

Tagovailoa said it was “truly remarkable to sit in those meetings and have things told about you that you know aren’t true but get planted in your head” and credited current head coach Mike McDaniel and his staff with building them both back up over the last couple of years.

Brian Flores quickly closing the gap on Cam Cameron and Nick Saban for worst Dolphins coach of all time.

If Richie Incognito can get suspended for bullying, then so should Brian Flores. What a douchebag.

Tua has become a true leader within the team. Cheetah also, but in a different way. It's organic and infectious... in a good way.

It hasn't been mentioned anywhere, but should McDaniel be right up there at the top for the Coach of the Year contenders?

This team is different from the moment he walked in. It's not just a happy place now. It's everybody buying in, from the veterans to the new recruits.

That's a huge black mark on Philbin for not being a real coach.

He's the rock bottom of the list for me. Yes, even below Saban, and even Cameron. If you look up in a thesaurus the phrase "out of his depth" there's a picture of Philbin there.

Like Saban ... Flores can coach. He just has really crappy people skills. Even Nick comes off better than he.

people skills, instilling confidence and belief, having the whole team pulling in in the same direction, putting your players in the best position to perform the best. That's all part of coaching and Flores sucks at every one of those.
