THE ASSCLOWN AWARD

What if Miami is in playoff contention next season and Tua goes down?

What if they then sign Brady out of retirement?

How would you react?

I want to lock this so bad.  What if the queen had balls? I prefer to not dwell in what it's but what is.

I’ll never watch a game again or cheer for Miami.

I’ll follow the CFL

If I'm to answer this earnestly, the season would be over.

If you lose your starting QB, especially one with numbers as good as Tua, expect to be worse.  As we're already barely a playoff team, it would mean maybe we squeak in to the playoffs, but don't have the ability to compete with the elite teams.

They wouldn't sign Brady because he wouldn't want it.  But also because he'll have been away from football, which matters, especially when you're older.  Also, he would have to learn our playbook and the team isn't built around his talents.  There wouldn't be enough time to re-tool the team properly.

It would be a media circus; nothing more.  But it wouldn't happen, anyway.

^ I'm not familiar with every one of these situations, but from what I know of the ones there, they wouldn't apply.

They are all week 1 backups that won the Superbowl

Yeah, that's not what we're talking about at all.

Backups that are on the team, practicing with the players, still in football shape and know the system is one thing.

Pulling a guy out of retirement mid-season to start immediately on a team with which he has no familiarity is another.

If Tua gets hurt, we're fucked. End of story.

Mike White is not an NFL quality QB (let alone a starter). It was a terrible signing and a complete waste of cap space.

Skylar Thompson had potential from his rookie season, but since the White signing is not getting the reps, and not really getting a chance.

Bringing in someone else that late is a waste of time and money.

Well if this week's practices prove anything it's that not every QB can just come in and play in Mike's system. The offensive team struggled mightily as Tua shut it down for contract talks. He only played in 7v7 and sat out the 11v11.  Regardless of it being Mike White or Skylar the defense pretty much dominated in 11v11s while Tua owned the 7v7s.

I'm pretty sure players can't also be owner of a team.  Brady is trying to be a minority owner of the Raiders.
He's not coming out of retirement.

We already saw this in 2022.  The offense looked like garbage when Teddy and Skylar were running it.

Yet plenty of people think Tua is on auto pilot here. I get him not being everyone’s favorite but the amount of disrespect around him always amazes me.

Yeah, no kidding.

For us, we need a backup QB who isn't going to take over for Tua to win the Super Bowl.  It's to take over if Tua gets a little bit dinged up and needs a couple of weeks of rest and rehab -- we need to find a way to win games that we're supposed to win.  Or maybe just stop the bleeding so we don't completely fall off -- the different between one game in the NFL means a lot, not just in making the playoffs, but seeding, home field advantage, bye weeks....all kinds of stuff.

A guy like Mike White needs to know the system and allow for our playmakers to still do their thing over a short term.  That's all we're asking.

Brady wouldn't come out of retirement.  Other than that Miami would lose an extra game or two and still make the playoffs.  Maybe Miami would find their new QB.
