If Tua goes down for a long period of time we are not making the playoffs. We should be fine with White or Thompson for a game or two.

If Tua gets injured for the playoffs you go with one of those two guys or you hire Tannehill now and have him as as the back up that can still give you a chance if you a chance if you think he can drag you to a superbowl which to be clear is the only thing that happens if Tua goes does for the playoffs but you don’t pick up someone off the street In week 18 to make a playoff run for you even It’s a legend

I find it interesting that there's the camp of "tua isn't that good" and the camp of "if tua gets hurt, our season's over". Which one is it, is he good or not?

He’s a very good QB, is he elite? TBD.

If he misses a few weeks I think we can be ok but if it’s extended time I’m not sure Thompson or White can carry.

Usually, the argument goes something like, "Tua is just an average QB, but Teddy/Skylar/White are among the worst backups in the league, so he only looks competent compared to them."

Actually it is two different camps.  And the anti-Tua camp doesn’t think he is a bad QB, they just think that if resigning him requires paying him elite QB money the Dolphins should let him walk because he is not elite.

Or that at least he's not proven he's elite yet. He was very good to elite for most of last year until the last couple of games when trying to win the division and then he was average at best. He's only had 1 playoff game but average at best then too. Hard to see giving him an elite QB contract when he hasn't yet earned it. I see everyone saying if we wait and we win a SB then he'll want even more money and I say I'll gladly give it to him then because he'll have earned it. He hasn't earned top 5 money yet, at least not in my opinion.

I mean I get it man but that’s the market. Tua makes us relevant and still has time glad deliver. It took Brees and Peyton a long time to win a playoff game. Jim Kelly lost 4 in a row and the greatest passer in NFL history has an 8-9 playoff record and 1 Super Bowl loss.

It sucks that Goff got what he did and that hurt us but market is what it as and the man is going to keep us relevant at least for awhile.

What’s the alternative? Go back to the Fiedler, Feeleys, Ferrotes, Rosenfelds, et al for 20 more years?
Hoping that we suck enough for a generational talent?

Where’s Andrew Luck at now?

Lawrence has been good but has not lived up to the hype. Burrow is very good but he gets just as banged up as Tua. Him and Herbie have been great but they have also regressed at times year to year where Tua has improved.
