THE ASSCLOWN AWARD

« on: August 26, 2024, 11:48:12 am »

It is on television.

Should that mean the players should get paid, just like the people who argue that college athletes should be paid?

yes, if the LL is making money off the back of kids, then they should get paid for it.

If a kid can get a  NIL deal then fine but there should not be direct payments from Little League.

Way to go Florida. Those kids played hard.

LL is a nonprofit organization that organizes baseball for youth.  If the championship teams that were televised got paid the TV revenues the organization would have to raise dues and/or cut programs.

That championship game was an instant classic and the last play should be on the next Not So Great Moments In Sports production.

Congratulations Lake Mary!!!  Bringing home the first ever LLWS trophy to this state!!

If the organization would have to pay individual salaries then you can bet travel and lodging expenses will then be transferred to the individual. I'm guessing most participants are happy with the deal they get.

I have always disliked and made fun of the little league world series, but I actually caught multiple games this year and it was pretty awesome.  I had a team to root for, which helped, and the games were super close and interesting, which also helped.

These kids are super good at baseball.

Not only good at baseball but good at sportsmanship.  After the initial celebrating, you saw these kids go over and console the kids from Taiwan who were crying because of the lost opportunity.   The kid that threw the ball to first on pure instinct and muscle memory not realizing there was nobody there was really down on himself and two Lake Mary players were holding onto him.
