THE ASSCLOWN AWARD

Plenty to pick from

Huntley missed a wide open touchdown to Tyreek

Tyreek committed penalties; he also made no effort to go after the fumble on the first drive.

The defense giving up the field goal at the end of the half was inexcusable.

McDaniel's play calling was utterly idiotic.

The O-line couldn't block one bit.

Waddle dropped an easy catch

The last touchdown drive they were moving way too slowly

McDaniel - once again his play calling SUCKS!

HM to some poor defensive play, I miss Vic Fangio.

I think Tyreek played pretty poorly.  He dropped a pass that ended up being a live ball that was a turnover.  He dropped a catchable pass.  And he got open for a long bomb and looked like he kinda got turned around on the route and missed an opportunity for a TD catch (might've been overthrown...I was at the game so I only got to see it once).

I have another major issue and I don't know who to blame for it.  Initially, I want to blame McDaniel for calling East-West run plays 3 yards in the backfield on 4th and 1, but I fear that we might just not have the personnel.  You have to be able to get one yard in the NFL.

Also, the number of motion penalties is annoying.

Where do I start?

The rot started with Tyreek. The dropped backward pass and not enough hustle to recover it, the illegal shift penalties. Apart from a couple of flashy plays, he's looked off in all four games so far. I don't care if he's distracted by the arrest saga right before game one, if he's struggling to adjust to the NFL being more critical of his movements prior to the snap, or Tua's absence. None of that matters. He's being paid a fortune and has to be better than this.

Speaking of what should be much better - the right side of the OL is atrocious.

Jackson can't zone block - he either doesn't have the power, doesn't have the agility, or doesn't have the intelligence (or a combo of those). Without Hunt (who is the guy we really should have extended and kept) or Jones next to him at guard, he gets locked up by his opponents, and blitzing players slide right past, inside or outside. Eichenberg is even worse, and the two next to each other is a complete disaster. Along with that, Brewer is a very poor replacement for Williams at center.

Ideally when Armstead returns, I'd like to see Paul tried at LG and Jones moved over to RG next to Jackson (and Eichenberg shot out of a cannon towards the sun). If Brewer continues to suck, throw that kid we drafted who looked good in preseason into his place. It couldn't possibly be worse than the shitshow we saw Monday night.

Speaking of shitshows, did someone say that Jonnu Smith was supposed to be an elite blocker when we picked him up? Completely whiffed blocks in the second half of the game resulting in costly sacks including the Q4 safety says otherwise. I've seen nothing in his games so far to say he's any kind of improvement at the TE position (or to suggest that McDaniel even knows how to use the TE position).

Then the ultimate shitshow of all - that kick after the safety, resulting in the penalty placing the ball at our own 10 yard line. Crossman should be fired immediately for either not knowing the rules, and/or not being able to have his players know them (and preferably shot out of the same cannon as Eichenberg that's aimed at the sun).
