I think this year is a lost cause. I don't see more than 6 wins on the schedule even if the Dolphins were healthy the rest of the year and even that might be a stretch. Everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong, I don't see Tua changing any of that. Anyone else still have hope for this year?

He will get the ball out quicker. Apart from that though, I can't see much change.

We struggled with him even before the latest concussion... we've been literally over a mile off the mark all season.

We would be 3-3 if Ingold and Mostert don’t fumble

I don’t know if we salvage the season but it’s a possibility

In one word: Yes.

We aren't using our biggest weapons on the field.  Tua's speed in which he runs the offense not only means better QB play, but it will helps our star players do what they do.

Things weren't going great before his concussion, so NO.

If you're the type of person that believes there's no meaningful difference between "first round playoff exit" and "bottom 5 team in the league," then no, Tua coming back won't make a difference.

They were going pretty well, IMO.

We weren't at the top of the mountain maybe, but we aren't competitive right now and we had arguably the best offense in the league before.  It's a big difference.

I'd just like to interject that I didn't say there wouldn't be any difference between Tua and the other QB's, of course there will be, he's the starter for a reason. My point was that I don't think he's going to make a big enough impact to fix everything that's wrong with the Dolphins. The offense is going to be better of course, but how much better? Can they get to 25 points a game with Tua at QB where they need to be to make a difference? I have trouble thinking they will especially given the schedule which gets tougher after the Cardinals. I would love to be wrong, but I can't see it at this point.

The one thing I will say that Tua/McDaniel should have learned over the last 6 weeks is that Jonnu Smith is a good target. I have no idea why Huntley can't find an open WR to save his life, but he's at least shown that Smith can be an effective receiver. I'd love for Tua/McDaniel to use him more especially on short yardage downs. Those damn WR screens on short yardage haven't worked in months. You can sprinkle that play in to keep the defense honest, but it can't be your bread and butter call on 3rd and 3.

The problem with that thinking is that we could be 0-6 just as easily. The difference between winning and losing has been razor thin even against bottom of the league teams which is why I don't see Tua coming back getting us to where we want to be when the schedule turns more difficult.

We could still be 2-4 if Richardson didn't fumble the snap deep into our red zone in the first half - the way they were running the ball, it looked like they would bully their way into the end zone (just like they did in the second half).

We could be 1-5 if Tua and Tyreek didn't connect on that 80 yard bomb against the Jags... or if Sanders missed a FG.

You're only as good as your record says, and ours says 2-4. IMO, it's a pretty accurate reflection of how we've played so far this season, including when Tua has been on the field.

IMO the Dolphins have to win both of the next two games, including at Buffalo; otherwise they need to blow things up before the trade deadline and trade away some of their top players for some draft picks.  Whether you want to blame coaching, the O-line, QB play, the defense, or whatever; things aren't working.  Miami is better than they have been playing and things need to be shaken up.

I know Omar Kelly cops a bit of grief here, but I think this is a pretty good opinion piece. No doubt, Tua being back will help a lot, but a lot more things have to click in order for us to have any chance of getting close to the better form of last season.

If we can pull off the upset next week there’s still life in the season, if we lose I think we play a little conservative and start looking towards next season.

Ideally with a new GM and the same coach for one more year
