THE ASSCLOWN AWARD

« on: December 09, 2024, 12:54:28 pm »

I have to look back at Tua's scramble vs Buffalo in Week 2.

If he had not gotten injured, I think Miami would have defeated the Colts.

That SINGLE game would change the Dolphins' playoff chances drastically.

If Miami misses the playoffs by one game, is it fair to give Tua the Shame of the Year for the that?

The Texans will be a tough team for the Dolphins to defeat.

No.  We are only where we are because Tua has been great.

The fact that we can't beat anyone or even be competitive when he's out tells us how good he is.

No, but I'm sure if you try hard enough you can find a missed kick by Sanders to blame it on, or perhaps a holding penalty somewhere, or a missed PI call.

This isn't 3D chess.  You don't blame the best player on the team for the 4 losses they didn't play in.

Just pick someone who is shitty.

Tua recently came out and accepted the blame for missing those games.

"Nobody else will say it but me, and I feel like this has a lot to do with myself obviously putting myself in harm's way in the second game, going down -- basically leaving my guys out to dry, that's what I would say," he lamented ahead of Miami's Week 14 game against the Jets. "Anyone can have an opinion about, 'It's football. It's this, it's that.' I do take heart to that as well and still don't want to do that to my guys again."

Just cause he accepted it doesn't mean it's his fault .. This is a failure at the GM level to have any sort of acceptable backup in place. Skyler Thompson isn't the guy and was never the guy.

I don't think there are any "backups" who can run McDaniel's offense as designed.
We've seen 4 backups try (including pretty well-regarded backups in Teddy and Huntley), and every time the Dolphins look like the worst offense in the league.

I thought Thompson was because the coaches thought so ... but I agree with everything else.

This might sound crazy but you know who I think can do it? I think Gardner Minshew can. He seems to be pretty smart and accurate at times. Watching him against us this year made me a believer and with McDaniel's help ... who knows?

I don't think Minshew is any better than Teddy.

Teddy was horrible for us. We were better this year with Snoop than Teddy in my opinion.

Josh Dobbs! He needs to be our back up next year. I know he is smart enough for it.

They were both terrible.

Are there any decent left-handed backups out there?

Maybe we could call Steve Young and see if can come out of retirement?

LOL.  He is definitely a smart guy, but he is a 3rd string QB that has been bouncing around the league for 7 years (Didn't play at all in 4 of those seasons).  I admire a guy like him, he's been cashing checks for seven years while going 3-11 over that time period.

Nothing tanked faster than the coverage game of Ramsey once he got that extension but I guess that's better than all the others we sign to come here and round out there retirement.
