Yeah he gets it for the play call on that 4 and inches that could caused a typical Miami catastrophe. If you were going challenge those calls it has to be one or the other unless it’s so obvious of a correct one.

If you can’t get a FG and you can’t trust yourself to get a third of a yard than it is ok to punt sometimes.

I’m going to edit my Game Ball post to include Bailey for that punt that essentially sealed the game

Hard to come up with anyone specifically, but the offense was bad on third down conversions (I know at one point they were 1-9).  Whether you want to blame the QB, HC, WR's, or OL who knows, but they have to be better at that.

It’s seems like I heard a lot of sacks allowed today and the yards per carry was once again abysmal so maybe OL deserves some criticism.

OL was inconsistent. It was near flawless during the four scoring drives, the only blemish was a Brewer holding call in the first quarter FG drive. The rest of the game it was patchy.

Brewer also snapped the ball to Huntley when he wasn't ready resulting in the dropped snap during the first drive.
Wynn almost had a clean sheet, but got a personal foul on the first drive (maybe a little unlucky, as his hit was just before or as the whistle was blown)
Jones got blown up a few times for losses.
Armstead struggled against Garrett, giving up a sack and holding penalty just before he was subbed out injured late in the second quarter.
Paul started well, had his ups and downs - he gave up a couple of sacks and got caught holding Garrett (who was a beast), but he was on 3/4 of the scoring drives (2 TDs)
Lamm missed some crucial blocks (like the 4th down pitch to Achane) and throw in a false start penalty.
If you extend it to the TE position, Smythe also missed a couple of crucial blocks that blew up plays.

Again we alternated between Wynn and Eichenberg at RG, and while the protection was pretty consistent, it's obvious Wynn is much, much better for the rushing game - when it's functioning. Achane got some good yardage early in the first quarter to the outside, but the Browns defense took that away, and he spent a lot of time on the bench in the second half. I'm not sure why we didn't try to use him more from a WR position like last week? (especially with Waddle out)

Another other thing of note is I don't think any Huntley's scrambles for gains (including the TD run) were part of the original play. Every time it was because the pocket was breaking down and he had to improvise.

I just read it allowing four sacks and eight QB hits - that probably qualifies as something worse than patchy.

It's a known quantity at this point, but our O-line's running play push is some of the worst I've ever seen.  I feel bad for McD.  He can't call short runs.  He has to do Jets sweep and passes behind the line instead of a run game because our guy gets hit 2 yards back.  It's really a coaching disadvantage.

The line struggles because it's literally a patchwork right now, and has been basically all season. Brewer also is not the run blocker than Conor Williams was.

Last week the best work with Eichenberg in at RT was to have him push back to the center, and overload the right side with additional blockers (Jonnu Smith, Julian Hill, etc) to generate the push. Wynn is a massive upgrade there and we need less help, but even with him Jackson at RT is a huge upgrade on Lamm.

On that 4th down play blow up with Achane carrying, if Lamm at RT makes the block 1-1 with a LB it's a first down (and a then brilliant call). Eichenberg was in for that series for Wynn, but it didn't matter - that was a purely on Lamm, he makes the block and it's almost certainly a first down.

I still think Wynn's best position is at LG to generate run on the left side of the line next to Armstead/Paul, but we're trying to plug holes and cover injuries everywhere.
