While I agree with you I must point out that you're a person who thinks banning guns will stop bad people from getting them. This law will keep most 10 and under and a lot of teens out and currently that isn't happening.
That is a false statement. I don't think banning guns will stop bad people from getting them. I have never supported a blanket ban on guns. What I do support is banning ghost guns - but that is not because it will prevent their existence but because it will make it easier to confiscate and being the purpose of ghost guns are as a tool for criminal activity making the possession of a ghost a crime allows law enforcement to use having such tools of criminal activity a crime. Similar with armor piercing bullets. I support requiring all gun transfers to be registered -- end the gun show loophole. I support attaching criminal and civil liability to gun owners who improperly store their fire arms if the fire arms is subsequently used in a crime. I support requiring gun owners to be trained in gun safety. I support greater regulation of guns not their outright ban.
As for protecting children. What happened to family responsibility? One of your sides favorite buzz words. Today parents can easily set up blockers on their browsers preventing the access to these types of sites. The blockers can be defeated by smart teens, but the same that are going to circumvent this law.
Back in the old days web there were two incidents that happened to friends of mine's kids won't happen today if you simply make sure your web browser is set to safe mode.
The first was a 7 year old who was doing a report on woodland mammals and searched for "beaver picture" and got results that were confusing.
The second were 10 year olds who received gift cards to a sporting goods store and searched on "Dicks toys"
I fully support requiring browser defaults to prevent the above problems unless one makes an effort to turn them off.
Also I want porn to be segmented enough that looking for topless women doesn't accidentally result in seeing a video of bestiality. But if a 14 year old knows they want to see what fornication looks like and is mature/smart enough to turn off the safe search tools I don't feel it is the governments job to stop that.
Florida wants to protect kids from seeing of sex but are perfectly okay with kids seeing acts of violence.
