So it's my understanding that Florida now requires you to verify your age with a photo ID on all porn sites.  Rather than comply, Pornhub decided to simply block all IP addresses in Florida until an alternative solution can be found.

I can see a bunch of peeps going crazy over this.

Yet websites that promote tobacco, alcohol, gambling,  violence and weapons at most  only requires the viewer to check a box saying they are of age.

Pornhub blocked Pornhub. They refused to verify users. Their answer it to pull out of those states that try and limit kids access to porn. Their whole argument is defeated by the fact many other sites are already doing it. In fact, most porn sites are still running in Florida.

The funniest argument I saw was an Only Fans model commending Pornhub for standing up to "Big Gov" but finished by saying she was looking forward to more traffic being directed her way on Only Fans.

This might be turned over constitutionally, by the way.

Asking to store your driver's license number is a one-way ticket to having your porn searches leaked online.  It's not even whether it might happen.  It will happen and then your kinks are out there forever for all to see -- employers, enemies, etc.  It's an unreasonable ask of a legal activity.

LOL at the VS catalog line

This is a portend of the Christian fascism to come, I said that Harris should have flooded all the porn sites with ads about Project 25 intending to outlaw porn.

Wow ... you guys are more dramatic than a bunch of 16 year old girls. HAHAHAHAHA  Porn is still legal and tons of companies are not having issue doing exactly what Pornhub says can't be done and have been doing it for some while.

The issue being discussed is anonymity according to the lawsuits. The Free Speech Coalition, a trade association for the adult entertainment industry, is one of the plaintiffs suing Florida Attorney General Ashley Mood "It creates "a substantial burden on adults who want to access legal sites without fear of surveillance,” said Alison Boden, executive director of Free Speech Coalition, in a statement. “Despite the claims of the proponents, (the law) is not the same as showing an ID at a liquor store. It is invasive and carries significant risk to privacy."

Please be specific, which part?

I don't want my (or anyone's) driver's license that is forever tied to me linked with my porn search history.  Do you think that's an unreasonable request?  For all of you people that don't want the government knowing you have guns or whatever else, do you not feel the double standard?

The difference is, I openly WANT to be able to track people's guns.  I don't want to be able to track people's porn.

I completely agree but I comply with gun laws every year. I have to supply my information whenever I purchase a gun. Most purchases are gun stores or gun shows and all of the purchases are approved and "recorded" by the government. We even have to provide a license when buying ammo.

I understand the fear of people knowing their porn searches but the question is if a persons embarrassment for searching out cuckolding or BBC is more important than protecting kids?

Yes.

It's an unreasonable violation of my rights to "protect" your kids.  ...which doesn't protect them anyway.  These Project 2025 bozos are so full of shit.  They want porn illegal.  They don't give a shit about kids.

Again, it's not a MIGHT happen.  It WILL happen.  Data that is stored is eventually breached and weaponized.  ...whether internally or externally.  If your search history is tied to your driver's license, that will become public information eventually.  It's not a matter of fear.  It's a certainty to occur.

I'm not even some kind of freak worried about myself.  But I can just see this get weaponized and everyone called a pedophile.  It's 100% going to happen if this becomes the standard.

Side story -- I know a gay man who teaches high school.

His username for reddit was discovered and his students tracked down his comment history where he was commenting on legal pictures of of-age men and their dicks...whatever his kink is.  But all of this is legal for him and legal imagery.  These comments were shared publicly on those teacher eval websites.

But this became public and he was smeared and he was called a pedo and a groomer and doxxed publicly and whatever else and it turned his life upside down.  They called for his job.  He didn't face any direct punishment from it (because nothing was illegal), but it was embarrassing for certain and most likely caused him financial damages because it affects your promotions and stuff like that.  Not to mention it just makes his job harder.

This is just gonna be the thing.  People love to kink shame.
