I get some people think politicians and celebs own everything here but unlike other countries the American people actually own this country and guns are how they keep it. It's why it was so important to call it out in the Amendments. If it weren't for guns Americans would have been arrested and put into camps like Austrailians when Covid hit.

Drugs are illegal but we cannot control them and that isn't even debatable. Somehow people use the same logic to pretend it would work differently for guns ... but then again ...  they aren't willing to give up their cars because drunk drivers kill people too.

Why then has gun control reduced gun violence in every developed country that has it? That is the truth and you can’t argue with it, I’m sure you’ll try but objectively it’s worked in the countries that have it.

But then you get corrupt governments and law enforcement.  In the UK and Australia, if someone makes a nasty comment on X or Facebook, they can be arrested.   And I'm not hardly bullshitting.

The second amendment was put in place to enforce the first.

Not to mention that here in America, the cities that have implemented strict gun control like Chicago and New York have some of the highest rates of gun violence.

The US has estimated 393 million guns owned by civilians. The number could be even higher.  We aren't a tiny island like England and current situation over there is why. Most countries fit into one of our states and no one wants to be treated like Australians during Covid or the UK right now.  Even if citizens would be dumb enough to turn them in (and that will never happen on a mass scale )you are never getting them off the streets. Like I said we can't stop drugs and now every Tom, Harry and Sally can make them on their own.

It doesn’t matter if Chicago has gun laws when you can just drive to Gary, Indiana.

I don't even know where that comes  from but any homeless "camp" in the US would be voluntary and they would be free to come and go so it's not even close. People were put into camps and arrested if they broke out in Australia.

Regarding guns preventing people from being rounded up and put in camps.

I would like it noted that the 2A existed on Feb 19, 1942 when executive order 9066 was issued allowing for the rounding up of American citizens and placing them in camps, it had zero effect.

NRA did not voice any opposition to 9066 however, the NAACP and the NCJW spoke out against it.

For all the claims that the 2A prevents tyranny, it hasn't.

No armed band of citizens attempted to stop 9066.
No armed band of citizens stood up to Jim Crow laws or provided protection to AA being targeted during the civil right era.
No band of armed citizen tried to stop Trump from permanently separating children from their parents.

It is quite possible that the only time the 2A has been used in the way the 2A crowd fantasies its use was occurred in NYC on Dec 4, 2024.

I agree but might add that being armed gave some protection to say the black panthers and farther back historically John Brown certainly tried it.

To play Devil's advocate, the gun owners were on the side of most of these policies. I am a gun owner myself and most of us would only consider arms for things that affect us, not the other guy.
