Looks like Black Monday will start today
The Pats have fired Jerrod Mayo after only one season.  I'm guessing ownership was pissed that the Pats blew the top pick with the upset win today.

I have to believe they already have a plan in place to dump him like that. They are likely to bring back former Patriots. Either Vrabel or Josh McDaniels ... or  maybe even both.

Jaguars have fired coach Doug Pederson but in a shocking twist, are keeping GM Trent Baalke.   That makes no sense at all.

I think there's more to the story with Mayo than we know or may ever know.  I have a feeling that he either didn't get along with other staff or they thought he was incompetent/bad leader of men behind the scenes.

Both the Dolphins and the Giants have announced that they will be retaining their coaches and GMs this upcoming season.   So far, we are up to five teams needing new coaches.  This includes the ones who fired their coach mid season.

Jets
Bears
Saints
Patriots
Jaguars

I can't see any more than this unless something crazy happens in the playoffs.

I am surprised about the Giants.  It seems like such a high pick without a QB would trigger a regime change, starting with GM.  But I guess this is a commitment to these guys for the next several years.  Because if they bring in a new QB and new strategy, you aren't going to do well to swap out the GM in the next season or two.

I'm guessing they realize that their QB woes are the problem and that will be solved in the draft.  They will take either Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders, whichever one is not taken by Tennessee.   The don't have to worry about Cleveland because Cleveland is stuck with DeShaun Watson for at least three more years.

A couple of the analysts that have been on Joe Rose have said there isn't a 1st round QB in this draft. That doesn't mean they won't be drafted high but don't expect heroism from them. Brian Dabolll turned around Josh Allen so he has positive experience grooming a QB.

Yeah it’s a thin QB class, I’m not sold on Sanders or Ward

I am not a fan of the firing of Mayo after only one year.

In general you should not fire a coach in less than 3 years.  And that the coach needs to be truly awful to be booted after 2.  Mayo won as many games this year as the greatest coach of all time won with basically the same team last year.

Unless they already have a replacement lined up I think they may have trouble attracting top tier talent.  First gets rid of BB and then gives his replacement only one year, hard to convince the next guy he is going to get a fair opportunity to  prove himself.

I hope Kraft isn't morphing into Al Davis or Jerry Jones in his old age.

Gronk was kind of going off on "Mr Kraft" yesterday and they seemed to move on him before it got too bad. I think most feel the way you do but I'm interested in seeing if he already has a plan he wants to implement.

Same comment as before.  Why would anyone believe they are going to get a fair shot to prove themselves.

Antonio Pierce was a bad gameday coach.  I was constantly critical of his decision-making.  He was actively bad.

He may have been good in other areas, but just in terms of choosing when to punt and manage the clock and stuff like that, he was the league's worst.

Raiders fired their GM yesterday so it looks like they are cleaning house and starting a new regime.  With Tom Brady being a minority owner, Mike Vrabel to New England is not a guarantee all of a sudden.
