In a battle between two high profile DC's, Vic Fangio is showing up Steve Spagnuolo...

On a side note...When the Eagles drafted their pair of DBs this last draft, Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean - arguably my fave two corners from this past class - it was pure drafting brilliance.  Wish my 49ers had drafted them...  Undecided

Spags IMHO hasn't done too bad a job considering how long that defense has been stuck out on the field. It's managed to contain the run game, and while it's passing zones have given up a couple of big plays it could have been a lot worse given how big a hole their own offense has been digging for them.

Fangio on the other hand had a monster of a first half. His defense is dictating the Chiefs OL to the point where they don't know where the pressure is coming from and players are finding themselves either overwhelmed or in space guarding nothing. Mahomes had no time without any pressure and/or no one to throw to. That's just total dominance.

Mitchell and DeJean were brilliant picks by the Eagles, that addressed a specific need as well as being the best players available. I wish our GM could manage that.  Roll Eyes

Chiefs open the second half with a hurry-up offense.

Eagles D still shut it down after one 1st down.

Sweat is having a massive game (a genuine MVP candidate at this stage)

A four score game now with just over 20 minutes to go.

The Eagles are doing what the Falcons didn't in Superbowl LIII - chewing up the clock and keeping their offense on the sidelines.

Fangio's D just keeps on ticking... turnover on downs this time.

DeVonta Smith makes the big TD reception in the big game (like he did at College). At the time I thought we drafted the wrong WR from Alabama... more so now.

Chiefs finally on the board.

You have to hand it to Mahomes for continuing to be so competitive.

Eagles just do what they should... chew up the clock, take the FG on offer.

Wow, that is a vicious strip-sack!  Shocked

Fangio's D makes another big statement late in the game.

Six sacks by the Eagles D. Zero blitzes all game. Just incredible dominance by the D front.  Shocked

Jake Elliott casually kicks another FG. At the moment he's the most accurate kicker in Superbowl history.

The majority of Australia is a very happy country right now.

Jordan Mailata is about to become the first Australian starter of a NFL Championship team.  Grin

That was a shellacking I did not expect to see.  The scoreboard is misleading in all kinds of ways.  Makes it look like an actual battle when in reality, it was over midway through the third quarter.

And to think the Dolphins had Fangio last year and let him go. More proof that Ross and Grier don't have a fucking clue.

What a beatdown.  The Eagles were able to disrupt the timing and the Chiefs never recovered.  There isn't even really much to comment on...they harassed the all night and also were on the receiving end of every tough call early in the game to help them get that big lead.

That's how Patrick lost in Tampa as well although I don't think the Eagles ever blitzed .. did they? The key to beating Mahomes is to get after him with a great defense.

I'm hearing Mahomes had a tweaked ankle.  That's why he wasn't able to run for his life as often as he usually does.   Someone showed a video of him getting on the injury cart after he walked out of the locker room and he was pointing at his ankle.

23 yards total offense for the Chiefs in the first half.  The Eagles had more points at halftime than the Chiefs had total yards.  Un-fucking-real.

They ended up blitzing a few times very late in the last quarter (after I posted they got 6 sacks with no blitzes all game). By that stage it was already won, and they had a lot of reserves in.

When the game counted though, no blitzes.
