While cats may be easier to clean up after, my wife is crazy allergic to them.  I had to get rid of mine soon after I met her.  Luckily my sister took it in.

Disturbing, yet sad.
And yes, cats are much better than dogs in so many ways.

I have two cats (that rock) and a dog (that rocks).  I think both bring wonderful elements to the house.

And that article depressed the hell out of me.  Poor thing.

Cyclops aside, comparing cats to dogs is like comparing being punched in the mouth to winning a car.

Dogs are valuable contributors to society.  Police dogs (the ones that take down hardened criminals that you or I would run away from), narcotics-sniffing dogs, seeing-eye dogs, fire dogs, rescue dogs, hunting dogs, etc.  What's the biggest contribution that a cat makes... kill a mouse and leave it on your kitchen floor?

Cats are leeches on society.  Dogs are man's best friend for a reason.

I like cats like this for two reasons:

1) They have one eye and are cool to look at.
2) They are dead after one day.

I was feeling a little guilty about posting the pic and depressing everyone, but Dave's comments are sure to make me look like a Saint.

It wasn't my intention to bum everyone out, I just found this to be the most spellbinding picture I have seen in a long while.  It's like like a car wreck.....I just can't turn away.  Also, I'm not a big fan of cats......but I would be if they all had 1 eye (and didn't piss on the sofa).

So how about poodles, dachsunds, terriers etc.  What exactly do they contribute to society?  Noise?

Things don't have to contribute to society to be enjoyed.  Those dogs have been trained by HUMANS to do those things. I'll go ahead and agree with you and add more the next time I see a stray German Shepard take down a thief by its own accord for society's sake.

If it were up to people like you, all animals except dog's would cease to exist. What has a Lion a Tiger or Bear done for you lately?  Dogs are man's best slaves.

Actually, Dachshunds are hunting dogs.  And even small annoying dogs serve as security to fend off burglers.

Cats, on the other hand, contribute by licking their assholes.  (not that I'm knocking that.)

I'm in the same boat.  No cats for me, ever again.  I also love dogs, however.  As soon as I upgrade from condo to home with yard, I'll get a dog.

And I'm sure the first thing a person thinks of when aquiring one of these "toy" dog's is, "I need it for security reasons". This may very well be a nice addition to having a dog,  but certainly not one of THE reasons in getting one.  Which also brings me back to my original point: Dogs are man's best slaves.  What can YOU do for ME?
