My boss,Knows I come here,He jokes about it all the time.

The other thing he ribs me about...he Said..You can tell when "B" is in his office, there's is typically 80's hairband music playing, and it sounds like an arcade.(I play Mame at work all the time)

He says it reminds him of high school.

It depends on the work and the people in charge I guess.

Everyone here posts somewhere or looks at Netflix or whatever.  No one in the history of work can work 8 or 9 straight hours without 1 interrruption for their whole work careers.

Every internet job I've ever had or seen doesn't say "hey no more of that site".  I mean obviously you can't have porn and triple-penetration scenes on your work laptop or computer...but then again, none of you ever worked for Crazy Scar Faces  Cool

My biggest problem with that story is this line:
City of Toledo officials say Scott Leo got his engineering work done on time, so they paid little attention to exactly what he was doing on the computer.

Who gives a crap as long as he gets his work done?

Totally bogus. That wouldn't have flown in the private sector.

Yes it would. Companies, especially larger ones, typically have a written policy on internet, e-mail, and phone usage.

If they have a written policy and firewalls to prevent it, sure. I've worked at a company like that.

I'm talking about someone complaining about an employee and they are forced out. City jobs are politics, private jobs are politically correct.

No way you could fire someone for that without a clear cut company policy or one or two warnings with their continued activity.

That's because he works through a temp service. My mom was a staffing coordinator at a couple different Temp services, well over 20 years.

They can have you fired/Pulled,because they don't like brunettes, they want all white people, you smell funny, they don't need a reason. If the Business wants all blondes with big breasts, they can do it.

The county that I live in ,Mom used to staff them, they would have girls replaced because of perfume, they just thought she was a bithc, just for the shit's and grins of it.

I work for a big company now, and there's no written rules or policy about emails, internet, or posting on MB's.  They're very sucessful, so clearly it makes no sense at all to implement such archaic policies

RTFA:

Sassy Sarah's frequent appearance in online discussions during work hours was brought to city officials' attention Dec. 27 by a citizen who said he was irritated by the apparent misuse of taxpayers' computers and work time.

Since then, city officials have determined that the Web site was accessed 19,200 times between Aug. 18 and Nov. 2 - all from three computers in Mr. Leo's work area, and all with a password that was assigned to him.

Mr. Leo was an intern with the city for 14 months, until his resignation Nov. 20, according to Robert Williams, director of the Department of Public Utilities. He said Mr. Leo was provided to the city by Cardinal Temporary Services, which was paid $16.88 an hour.
