2011 NFC East Champions!

« on: January 22, 2006, 03:43:27 pm »

It seems as if the Steelers are the bandwagon team this year (notice new avatar).

Now, everyone is going to be from Pennsylvania.  Everyone, their families, and their girlfriends are going to be born and raised in Pittsburgh, or "lived in Pitt for X years".

Last year the Falcons got a lot of bandwagon fans.  This year it's the Steelers.  When someone says "i've been a steelers fan for X years", don't believe them, unless you know for a fact.

Dude, your joking right? I hate the steelers, but they have one of the biggest and most loyal fan bases of any team in sport. They probably travel better than any other fan base in the NFL, and i assure you that crowd at ford field for the super bowl will be 70/30 steelers.

No bandwagon my friend.

Cowboy's right...Steelers fans are like...Nebraska Cornhuskers fans.  Loyal, proud, and seemingly everywhere.

PFFFFF!!!  You people are either naive or smokin it.  Jtex is right,  he's talkin about all the people that are going to come out of the woodwork now that Pittsburgh is in the Super Bowl.  Flags, jerseys, t-shirts...

Their fanbase are like the Cowboys',  but the last time you saw more than 1 of them was about 10 years ago.

It happens every year.  I know 1 person who was a Patriot fan since the days of Eason,  now,  I know more Patriot fans than I've ever cared to know.

Carlos, I'm not smoking anything, and definitely not smoking IT, no matter what you heard!  Bandwagon jumping happens in every sport, to every team that wins a Superbowl.  That's not news.

Jtex is just sour because he's going to have to take back his "Does Bill Cowher...Suck?" thread.

I am from PA, so I see Steelers fans every day!
I've never been a Steelers fan, I will be cheering for them to win it all.  I have my reasons for that.

Dude, I can't stand the Steelers, but their fans are very loyal and die hard.  They also like some microbrewed beer up there called Iron City Brew.  Hey Philly, have you ever had one?

OK, I'll stay away from that stuff if I'm ever in the Western PA area.

Hey Jvides, why don't you READ my "does Bill Cowher suck" thread, where I actually give the man props!!

See how you imply that I think he "sucked", when I simply just asked the question.  Good job.

Doesn't look like anyone is really understanding what I'm saying here (figures).

I'm not talking about the Steelers fans that are from Pittsburgh.  Of course they're die hard fans.

What I'm talking about is all the people who never ever were fans, and all of a sudden they hail from Pittsburgh.  All of a sudden, they have relatives who live there, their girlfriend is from there, their mom is from the area, or they used to live there themselves.  Out of nowhere, they have personal connections and ties to Pittsburgh, and how convinient it is that now they are in the Super Bowl.

And you're right - I now also know quite a few Patriot fans who apparently are from the "North East" now, or lived there, or were born there, or whatever.

And you better believe that you will now magically and mysteriously start running into folks who are "From Washington" or "were stationed there" (Sunstroke), or "lived there", or "has family that lives there", or any excuse to hop on the wagon while the stock is going up.

Relax, Tex; I was screwing around.  I know your post was intended to "inspire conversation" and all that.  I was bustin' your balls a bit.  You know, like you do all the time...

I wouldn't really call them "bandwagon fans" Joe.

Think about it, there is one (meaningful) NFL game left this year. There are two teams left. If you are a fan of any team, other than the two surviving teams, aren't you going to pick a team to cheer for? I have no issue with people saying they "want the Steelers to win" or they "want the Seahawks to win".

I do follow what you are saying about people who all of the sudden say 'I've loved the Steelers all my life" or "i've loved the Seahawks all my life". I know one Seahawks fan. He happens to live here in PA, and he started to cheer for the Hawks in their first year, way back when, so I have no issue with him. But I follow what you are saying abouit folks jumping on the wagon.
