The Indians / Sox deal isn't dead by any means, but the Indians and Sox have invited the Reds back into the fold.  It appears that the Sox offered a trade to the Reds that the previous GM declined...and declining that trade got him fired.

So now with the new owners in place - the new rumbles are:

Reds get Clement from the Sox (and cash)
Indians get Kearns from the Reds
Sox get Crisp from the Indians

The original deal (with Mota) isn't dead yet, but the Reds' new offer to jump into the frey is interesting.  I would love to see the Sox hold on to Andy Marte and this would allow them to do so.

The Indians now want Marte, Mota, Shoppach AND Manny Delcarmen. Christ, they already got the better of the deal with the first 3, now they want a 4th? This is Coco Crisp, not Albert Pujols.

Delcarmen is actually someone they asked for to start off.  Personally, if Mota is so "damaged" I don't know why the trade can't be a straight up Marte - Crisp deal.

I mean, shit.  They are sending Riske to Boston who, in my opinion, is better than Mota anyway.  So keep Riske and Boston keeps Mota.  It's like me handing someone a ten dollar bill and them handing me two $5's.  What's the point?

The Cleveland GM just blew this whole deal. Fortunately, this is baseball and Crisp can still be with the Red Sox, but I doubt it's gonna be a straight up trade anymore. Rumors say Boston may trade for Austin Kearns and then flip him for Crisp. Personally, I think Kearns is one of those guys that can have career years in Boston like Millar and Mueller did. His numbers aren't aided by Cincy's park either, not that they are amazingly impressive though.

I think Boston should trade Mota for Michaels, seeing as how that's how cheap he is going for. That way, they have all the leverage when it comes to trading for Crisp. Then, they can flip Michaels and Mota(fuck trading Marte)for Crisp. But, I hope that doesn't happen because I am an evil Yankee fan  Evil
