It's DOO DOO baby!!

« on: January 26, 2006, 03:12:35 pm »

I burned a dvd to my hard drive and was wondering if it's removed off my hard drive if I delete the file out of the folder it was placed in? Or is there some other program I have to go through to remove it completely from the hard drive? To clarify what I mean, I burned a DVD into lets say dave's folder on my documents if I go to My Documents and erase the file out of dave's folder is it off my hard drive or what? Thanks for any help you computer savvy guys can give me.

I'm pretty sure if you delete the folder, its gone.  The folder should be 4.6 GB or close to that.  if it is, then its gone.

I believe it's off your machine at that point, especially if you empty your recycle bin.

However, when you burn, doesn't it automatically transfer to your hard drive?  You don't have to do it manually.

For example, when you're setting up the burn (and your CD drive is D: for example), you just set to burn from D: to D:.  It should ask for the source disc first, then pull then info, then it should ask for the blank disc, then write the info, the automatically erase, once you say that you're done.

it doesn't automatically erase.  you have to manually erase it.  it leaves it there incase you wanna make many copies.

However, when you delete it, it should pop up a message, something like:
"This file is too large for the recycle bin, would you like to permanently delete it?"

if you didn't see that, you might still have some crap in there.

Well I haven't deleted it yet cause I just finished my last copy this morning. When I get home later I'll try to delete it and see what it says. Um...I'm a little confused by what you said Grizzle, but I'll see what it says tonight and post any more problems I get. Thanks guys.
