2011 NFC East Champions!

« on: February 24, 2006, 09:29:29 am »

Congratulations!! You WON THE SUPER BOWL!

Now, here comes the hard part - DEFENDING your title.  People like Troy Aikman, Terry Bradshaw, John Elway, and Tom Brady will tell you that repeating as NFL Champions is twice as tough as winning it the first time.  The entire league has a bullseye on you, and they won't quit.  They all wanna be the team to knock off the defending champs.

WHAT do you need to do to keep this thing alive, and try for a run at a dynasty?  The AFC is ultra-competitive, and you just snuck in at the last playoff seed.  And, you lost the Bus - not that I give a shit about him, but he had a big emotional effect on the team last year, so it's important.

Personally, I'd trade Hines Ward and Ben Rothlesberger for NFL Europe late-round draft selections, and flat-out drop Troy Polamalu to free up cap space...but that's just me.

What about acquiring compensatory draft picks for them instead?

Actually, you're right.  It's probably better to acquire compensatory draft picks, and give Willie Parker away for it.

I would resign Randle-El. He came up huge for them in the postseason.

the steelers are a solid team everywhere, except at RB.     depending on how free agency & randle-el turn out, you have to spend your first round draft pick on either an impact RB and WR.  another shut down corner, and a monster DT/DE wouldnt be a bad idea either.  all in all, a solid team.  use your cap space wiseley to fill holes (although there really isnt anything glaringly bad) and add depth at key positions.
