Gentlemen, our new quarterback: (According to the Pioneer Press)

Culpepper expected to be dealt to Dolphins

BY SEAN JENSENPioneer PressDaunte Culpepper is about to get his wish.
The Vikings are expected to trade their frustrated and injured Pro Bowl quarterback to the Miami Dolphins today for a second-round draft pick in next month's NFL draft.
Vikings officials and Culpepper didn't immediately respond to interview requests.
The 11th overall pick of the Vikings in the 1999 NFL draft, Culpepper's seven-year tenure with the team included three Pro Bowl appearances.
But after a disappointing start to his 2005 season, Culpepper tore three of four ligaments in his right knee Oct. 30 against the Carolina Panthers, and his attempts to upgrade the 10-year, $102 million contract he signed in 2003 have been rebuffed by the Vikings.
Culpepper said last Wednesday that Vikings management sent him a "disturbing e-mail" that prompted him to request a trade or his release. That night, after learning of his e-mail correspondence to news outlets, the Vikings aggressively started shopping him to other clubs, including the Miami Dolphins and the Oakland Raiders.
In an interview last week, owner Zygi Wilf said he had to change course from his original plan of keeping Culpepper.
"He seems to feel that his future is best served somewhere else," Wilf told the Pioneer Press. "We have to move on for the best interests of our team

From the Sun-Sentinel:

The Dolphins have found their new starting quarterback: Daunte Culpepper.

FOX Sports has reported that Minnesota has traded Culpepper to the Dolphins for a second-round draft choice. The trade is contingent upon a passed physical by Culpepper, who is recovering from three torn knee ligaments.

The Dolphins turned to Culpepper after being unsuccessful in negotiating a contract with free-agent quarterback Drew Brees, who met with the team the three previous days.

I may be one of the few people that favored Culpepper over Brees, so let me tell ya, Denver_Bronco...if Jake Plummer could be rehabilitated at 29, so can Culpepper.  I'm hopeful.

Good Luck Dol-fans.  Culpepper is better then Frerotte, but don't expect Dan Marino.

He's supposed to be coming to Miami (from Orlando) for a physical right now (according to the Herald).  ESPN has been saying he may not be able to play until October, but I don't know how accurate that is.

The plus side is he'll be ready sooner than Brees, most likely in time for camp.

The plus side is we can open up the passing game.

The plus side is he's the best QB we've had since Marino.

The down side is 1+ fumbles per game.

Damn... Sad

The Dolphins still had concerns about Drew Brees' Shoulder....Oh well...I think this is sort of a Short term solution....Now the pressure is on our first round draft pick

I can't see them taking a QB in round 1 if we dealt #2 for a QB.  I think its almost a given we go after a top CB at 16 and wait it out for the third round.
