I'm not all that happy.....a 2nd round pick with a 1st round price tag/Cap hit....

I sure in hell wouldn't buy a Car,or house with out kicking the tires, and taking it for a test drive....They made the deal without seeing him,or getting a medical checkout....I know that the deal is based on him passing a physical....

I'm not wild on bringing in a 29 yrd old QB coming off of 3 torn ligaments in his knee

I agree househead with a wait and see attitude.....

I don't see Daunte doing much this year....especially if he doesn't start throwing till Training camp.

So far all the articles I have read suggest that the deal is subject to a medical examination by our staff, but I may be wrong.

Such is the case with every trade.

In my estimation, this presently is not a good fit: he's a relatively immobile passer after that terrible injury and Shelton is not going to get it done alone. We need Mawae and Ashworth or whatever his name is, for depth and Fonoti, the Guard from the Vikes. Plus, without a second round pick they have to get McNeal or Jonathan Scot and then they should do fine. Is Pepper going to be ready to play though-No. He'll be in recovery through training camp, so he'll take over starting in mid-season.

In the meantime, Frerotte isn't likely to come back and Rosenfels is suppose be take a hike through FA, too. So who will be our QB?

^^^

Sage is in Houston now.

I was sitting in my car, with the radio on. The newsbreak came on. They said that Culpepper had a new home, and (on purpose it seemed) they recapped Culpepper's last few years of his career and the knee injury. I was sitting there on the edge of my seat thinking "Please say something other than Miami" Finally, they said Miami and I yelled "NOOOOOOOO!"

People in the car next to me looked at me like I was crazy.  Grin

I think this may be the first time I have ever seen a group of fans unhappy that a team upgraded at any position.

I think most of us on this board had delusions of grandeur. Brees or Culpepper were both going to be upgrades over our current QB. Both are coming off injuries so both have major question marks. You could forget the thought that we were going to get a QB ready to play in the draft (unless you were blind).

My question for you guys is, was it Brees or nothing for you then? We upgraded the QB position, why the doom and gloom? This makes us better.

NO, it doesn't.

Daunte Culpepper sucks.  Someone said earlier "We'll see what will happen without Randy Moss".  Ummmm, he already didn't have Moss last year, and sucked miserably.  Then, he destroyed his knee.

At least Frerotte has two non-torn up knees and a non torn-up shoulder to throw with.

I'm not upset that they got Culpepper. I just really wanted Brees. I'm glad they did it now, rather than waiting another week negotiating with Brees. In that time, some other team could have gotten Culpepper and we'd be left looking at Ramsey or a rookie again.

Culpepper > Frerotte.  Upgrade.  Yes.
Moss was a little quiet last year as I recall.
D.C.'s 39 TD year :  Moss 49 rec. 767 yds 13 TD's.  So it can be done w/o Moss.

Frerotte may have a non torn up shoulder,  but he sure as hell threw like he did.  Overthrowin' backup-for-lifer is what he is.  Put him on your team and see how the tears start runnin' down your face.

Man, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I would have rather had Brees, but I'm not going to crucify Culpepper until he's had a shot. If he sucks ass then I'll be pissed but if he returns to form and kicks ass, I'll be running around the house naked! He lost his best receiver and his offensive co-ordinator last year then he gets injured ... lets give him a chance. I just wish it would have been a conditional pick for next year's draft that way we wouldn't piss away a 2nd rounder if he blows.

For Me Personally...It's his age, price (both salary/and the High Pick)...I don't like mobile QB's....Brees the past 2 years was on his way up before his injury....He was playing well, his main targets were L.Tomlinson, and Antonio Gates. He had K.Mcardell, and Eric Parker as his Wr's....So Brees had Pretty good numbers...Working with the (Arguably) the best RB,and TE in the game..but average Wr's.As I heard it said earlier...Brees got the Best out of who was around him...He Lead the team.

Daunte Culpepper was in the mist of a Major melt down before his injury..2 wins 5 losses...12ints to 6 td passes...Throwing to Wr's T.Taylor,M.Robinson,K.Robinson,N. Burleson....and Rookie Troy Williamson....The Team got better when they put in Brad Johnson..Winning 7 of the last 9 games..(A guy who I've never really been that impressed about)

I thought perhaps Go after Ramsey, cheaper younger, more to prove,or Josh Mcnown...Maybe even draft someone....

The poll on NFL.com has 54% of people thinking that Culpepper will have the most success with his new team over Brees and Kitna.

You should just be happy that one of our castoffs actually upgraded your team.

now that we have culpepper, i see a move for to in the works. can't understand why everyone is so down on this move. right now say we pick up to, and daunte rehabs well, ready to go start of season or a couple of games in... just imagine what we could do on the offensive side of the ball. compare this to the disaster of the 2004 year. how can you not feel hope that something special might happen soon if we get a little lucky??
