Quote
The Miami Dolphins today terminated the contract of quarterback Gus Frerotte.

Frerotte, a veteran of 12 NFL seasons, joined the Dolphins in 2005 as an unrestricted free agent from Minnesota. He played in 16 games with Miami last year, starting 15 of them. He completed 257 of 494 passes for 2,996 yards with 18 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Well, who will be our backup QB???

Easy killer...I only doubted it because of the statement on miamidolphins.com about Culpepper. I wasn't saying that you didnt see a report about it.

That role could be filled by Tommy Maddox.

How ironic if we bring back Gus and he ends up backing up Daunte again.  I think we're gonna bring in a veteran backup.  Gus may be willing to re-sign for a reduced salary.  If not, we could look at Tommy Maddox or Brian Griese.

Don't be surprised if Fierotte winds up in St. Louis, back with his favorite person Scott Linehan.  If not St. Louis, he'll go back to Denver, and throw pick six drills with Jake Plummer.

I think the only reason he was released is because he was going to cost the team $4.38 million against the cap this season.  That number is not justifiable for a backup QB.  It wouldn't surprise me if they bring him back for less money.

By the way Dave, the Herald confirmed that Saban is still running Linehan's offense.  That's a big plus for Culpepper.

Tommy Maddox would make Gus Frerrotte look like Dan Marino.

Tommy Gun, is HORRIBLE! He is a 3rd string QB at best. That would not be good.

Not ironic at all.  I think "coincidental" is the word you're looking for.

Irony = The most misused word in the history of the English language.

No, that would be ironic.

Gus left MIN in hopes of being a starter.  Losing the starting job to the guy you were just previously backing up (and being put in the same backup situation by the same player) is, in fact, ironic.

That's a stretch.  If Gus left Minnesota for here, directly, and then Culpepper was acquired, while Gus was under contract, It'd be a stonger case.  I see where you're coming from though.
