     In the midst of all the champangne popping celebrations for QB Daunte Culpepper, here's some other Dolphins related news.  Most of this came from the Miami Herald.

- A team source with the Dolphins vehemently denies the story about K Olindo Mare

- Dolphins defensive end Kevin Carter helped the Dolphins create $1.125 million in salary cap room when he restructured his contract, agent Harold Lewis said.  (Thank you for stepping up, and setting the example Kevin)

- The Dolphins had free safety Chris Hope in for a visit Tuesday, and he is expected to be with the team today.
Hope was the starter with Pittsburgh last season and helped the Steelers win the Super Bowl. The former Florida State standout, who has played four NFL seasons, had three interceptions last season.


- Running back Travis Minor re-signed with the Dolphins for a one-year deal.

- Offensive tackle Stockar McDougle agreed to a two-year deal with Jacksonville.

- The Dolphins contacted the agent for free agent quarterback Tommy Maddox, who could take the backup role if Gus Frerotte doesn't re-sign.

- Backup wide receiver and special teams ace Bryan Gilmore signed with San Francisco.

-  Running back Sammy Morris, an unrestricted free agent who was with the Dolphins the past two years, visited Seattle on Tuesday.

I like Hope. Steelers don't want to lose him, but probably can't afford him. He would fill a void at safety.

Ike Taylor, Steelers CB, would be a great signing as well. I haven't seen his name anywhere.

I love Chris Hope.  Nice job, Nick. 

Also, kudos to Kevin Carter.  I'm glad we get to keep him for a while.

I'm sorry to see Bryan Gilmore go.  I think he needs some hands work, but he is a talented WR and should flourish in SF with Brandon Lloyd gone.

Well Hope is a goner now.  The best free safety left in free agency is...Lance Schulters.  PLEASE RE-SIGN HIM!
