Another great piece from Maine...with props to Sunstroke for editing.

Also, Stroke says he's preparing a big draft piece for us.

America's team

Very optimistic read to say the least, but why not ? You have all the reason to be optimistic at this point. The question will be how long it takes Daunte to recover from injury first and foremost, and secondly how he takes to the offense and learns to utilitze the threats that Miami has.

Now it's really hard as much as i want to to rip Mike Tice for Minnesota's handling of Culpepper. While Tice is not the X's and O's type of coach that Saban is, he is a good motivator and did have that very same team win 6 or 7 in a row with friggen' Brad Johnson at QB. I realize however, that probably 3 or 4 of those games were won on the defensive side of the ball.

I liked this new Maine article quite a bit. Sure, it's a little optimistic, but when you support your optimism with hard facts, it's not as much optimism as it is realism with a smile.  Grin

Also, Stroke says he's preparing a big draft piece for us.

Yessir...I just need to wait for a few more of the important pro days to wrap up (and some of the straggling FAs to sign) and I'll have a pretty comprehensive draft overview set to go.

There is some weird paragraph from a previous article morphed into the Culpepper one - maybe that could be removed?  Not sure how that popped up there.

My fault.  I used a template from another article.  It's fixed now.  Strange that I read through it and didn't notice.  Jeez...

Good read Maine. I was going to submit my first ever reader submission, but opted not to after reading yours.

Great read Maine!!!! I will admit that I too wanted Brees and was beyond all belief a little bummed to get Culpepper. Why, I don't know I have never really been a fan of C-Pep so I was being kind of selfish. My tune however in the last 2 -3 days has started to change. The more my friends here in AZ ask me about it and talk to me about it, the more I read and listen to our board members about it. I am really starting to think this was a great move and my excitement level is growing rapidly to see Daunte (when healthy) playing behind the center for my beloved Phins. Even if he doesn't put up numbers like his 2004 season I am almost positive he will still have better numbers than any QB we have had since Danny boy called it a career. I really am starting to dig this move. I can't wait for the season!!!!!  Smiley

Philly - you should write something!

Seconded by the large ugly fella in Pompano. I actually think Philly had a piece written...and Philly, you can tell me if my instincts are dulling on me here... The reason you didn't send me what you'd written today has far more to do with the subject matter being too close to Maine's current offering than any reservations about posting a feature article up here?

There are six board members that, if I miss a few days in a row up here, I go to their profile history and read the posts I missed from that person. Maine is one and Philly, you're another (the other four shall remain nameless, so it doesn't go to their heads). As a writer, I appreciate a good read, and I'd love to read something more structured as a feature from you.

Just a small correction to the article:

You stated that Brees has had great statistics over the last two seasons but no playoff appearances... SD won their division in 2004, en route to a Wild Card Weekend loss to NYJ.

The sort of thing that I normally will catch in a copy edit. My bad...sorry Maine!
