I've seen nothing in any other major newspaper that even comes remotely close to validating this article.  From what I've seen, Culpepper could be back by late mid-season worst case scenario.

I'm not expcting fireworks out of Culpepper,it's his right knee...He's a right handed QB.This is his plant Leg the one that he pushes off with...when he takes his drop,he pushes off with his right leg.If he doesn't trust that knee, his it will affect his Accuracy, and strength on his throws. From the videos of Daunte throwing (in miami)he's just standing there throwing.

the test for his knee is not walking or running,it's lateral movement.the movements he doesn't use everyday.

For some reason,I always thought it was his left knee, until about 2 weeks ago.Being it's Right knee,I don't see him being the opening day starter. As for out for the season,I'm damn near 99.995% positive he'll play this year. (As it is right now,no reinjures, set backs )

Oh geez ... here we go again.  *sigh*

CULPEPPER TO MISS MOST OF THE YEAR?

As speculation continues regarding the question of whether Dolphins quarterback Daunte Culpepper will be ready at the start of the 2006 regular season, we're hearing increased rumblings that Culpepper might not be able to play at all this year.

Right.  It's not the ProFootballValidatedNewsSite.  It's a "RUMOR MILL!"  They heard a rumor and they passed it on.

Anyone else experiencing deja vu?

This is the same site that reported that the Dolphins were changing their team logo to match that of the stadium.
On April 1st?

Their archives are all posted - humor me and find this "report".

This is all analagous to liberal complaints about Bush.  Here's a president spending like a drunken sailor and all they can complain about is that Bush "lied" about WMDs.  If being wrong makes someone a liar then almost everyone who posts on any of the prediction threads in here is a liar.

I asked in a private email what he thought of Culpepper and Brees, respectively and he said that "Culpepper should be ok" and that (I'll paraphrase, the original was more strongly worded) "Brees is already throwing and even a team like the Saints had to know he was ok before signing him".

He also added: "Odds on returning to "elite" status? Culpepper - 60%, Brees - 80%".
Great info!

Have any All-Pro caliber QBs in the past blown out their knees and come back?

How does Brees' injury compare to Pennington's?  Was Pennington's just a fluke or an indication of what Brees' future may hold?

OK...

SCOREBOARD COMPANY LETS CAT OUT OF BAG FOR FINS
POSTED 10:05 p.m. EDT, April 3, 2006; UPDATED 9:23 a.m. EDT, April 4, 2006

A reader advises us that the official web site of Daktronics, a South Dakota scoreboard and video display company, describes as one of its recent projects the installation of two large video displays at the venue, with a scheduled completion date of July 2006. In so doing, Daktronics discloses the new name of the stadium, including its new logo.

The broader question, as we see it, is whether the new Dolphin from the stadium logo eventually will replace the team's traditional cartoon-style, helmet-wearing marine mammal on the side of the player helmets.

Now, you may say "they're just posing the question..." but guess how everyone on this board who read it understood that?  Yeah, its written very sketch-ily, in order to drum up more rumors. Roll Eyes

As much as I think PFT is crap, they did not report that the Dolphins were changing their logo.  They said something along the lines of:

"Are we to believe that the Dolphins will be updating their logo?"
or
"Who knows if the Dolphins will follow and change their ugly logo?"

...somthing like that.  ...but they most certainly did not make a statement that such was fact.

Run to win, do you think we can have a thread about football without bringing up Bush?

Please see above - I realize that they posed it as a question.  But go look at how the public read it.  That's a stupid thing to even bring up, and it was written in a way that someone could take it as "oh my god, they're changing their logo to that?"

A news reporting source shouldn't be speculating, rather than reporting the news.  Clearly, PFT isn't a news reporting source.

That's my point.

There's a good German quote that I think fits this report from PFT...

"Nicht die Kinder bloß speist man mit Märchen ab."

Translation..."It isn't just children who are fed fairy tales."

Sooooo, rather than appropriately label the people who misunderstood the comment or can't grasp the concept of rumor mill, we'll just label the comment a lie?

So everytime one of your comments goes over someone's head, you're a liar - or does this only apply to other sites?

And it would be a great point if the site wasn't called a rumor mill.

It they called the site "ProFootballTalk.com/News" and then speculated I'd be as outraged as the rest of you.

There's actually a subtle distiction between "abspeisen" and "feed", in that abspeisen also means to feed (=give) someone something so that they shut up / stop complaining ("fob somebody off with something", although that term is hardly modern US vernacular).

Actually they refer to the site as the "best pro football scoop on the internet". Scoop by definition is an exclusive NEWS story acquired by luck or initiative. So indeed they are referring to themselves as a news source.
