For those on these boards that watch even more football than I do:  How good is Manny Lawson from NC State?  The latest ESPN mock has him going to Miami with the 16th pick.  Any would be scouts out there with an opinion?

I like Manny Lawson quite a bit...great Senior Bowl, and he's probably in the small group of players whose stock went up after I watched all the combine film and read reports on his private workouts. Ridiculous athletic skills, and an excellent head for the game. I heard one personnel guy make a comment after interviewing Lawson that basically said (loose quote) "He'll make a great NFL pass rusher...and probably a good defensive coach some day."

I don't think he'll go to Miami at #16 though. I think (read: hope) he drops to #22 and becomes SF's second 1st round pick. That is where McShay has him mocked right now as well.

Stroke,

ESPN has SF taking Vernon Davis at # 6 and then picking up Jonathan Joseph at # 22

I saw that...McShay, who seems to be a lot more unbiased than Kiper (imo), has SF taking Lawson at #22. I don't want Johnathan Joseph there, so I hope McShay is accurate.

Vernon Davis and Manny Lawson...if SF can come out of the first round with that combination, I'll be one seriously happy fan.  Grin

It will release tomorrow...day before the draft. I wanted to release it earlier this week, but turning allllll those notes into a readable article has taken much more time than I anticipated.
