I'm sitting here tapping out the finishing touches on the Draft report for Dave to post later tonight, and I flip past ESPN.com and see the news...

WOW!!

Gary Kubiak...you're an idiot. No way you couldn't have traded that pick, moved down a couple of slots, STILL gotten Mario, and added many more good picks.

Gotta go update the mock...Houston, you suck!

HOLY FOCKING SHIT.

This is unbelievable.  Reggie Bush was the #1 pick, he was the lock of all locks.  And now he's not the #1 pick overall.

Someone somewhere F'ed up, Big Time.

I guarantee you people are in war rooms right now trying to redo the draft projections and update their boards.

I don't think much will change....the first few picks will be the same, just in a different order.  I don't see how anything changes for the Fins especially, unless there start to be a lot of trades.

Not to be Mr. Skeptic, but are the Texans taking Mario Williams like Miami took Braylon Edwards last year?

This is the craziest Friday before the draft ever.

If Reggie Bush is ever ANY good at all, this move will be forever 2nd guessed until the end of time.

Also, I think the New York Jets have just been opened a door of possibilities.  They should probably consider pulling a Ricky Williams draft move by trading everyone for 1 pick, at all costs.  They are the one team that needs a new superstar the worst of them all - worse the the Saints, who just signed Drew Brees, and worse then the Raiders, who have Randy Moss.

Major, major shocker!!!  If the Texans had agreed to terms with someone like D'Brick, who would fill a huge need for them, I wouldn't have been as surprised, but Mario Williams???  This pick doesn't make any sense!!!

Here's to hoping Mario Williams is a big-time bust and Reggie Bush is a pro-bowler.  If that is the case, Kubiak's career as a head coach will be forever marked by this.

I'm speechless. The texans are a joke. All i can say is welcome to new york Mr. Bush. The jets will certainly move up to the number 2 position. They have plenty of ammunition. I know this must be the dolphins worst nightmare.

I can understand the move down comments, but consider this. To move down, someone has to be willing to move up. The #1 spot is expensive, I doubt they had too many serious suitors.

Also think about this, Houston plays in the same division as the Colts. They are not going to outgun the Colts, so in order to be competitive in the division (the first step at making playoff runs) you had better try to stop the Colts. Taking defense makes a lot of sense if you think about it that way.

The one good thing is he is already signed.  Because the top five picks traditionally wait for the #1 pick to sign, there will be fewer holdouts this season.

I don't think anyone was going to trade up, other than teams past the top 10. We'll have to see in a few years if this is a bonehead pick. I don't know if it is though. The Texans already have Davis, who they gave an extension to. If They hadn't given Davis the extension, it may have been a different story. Let's say the traded Davis... They would have a good hit on their cap, and then pay Bush. I'm just saying, the pick make sense. Besides, running backs have been disposable, and don't have the lifespan in the NFL that linemen on the offensive and defensive side do.
