I like this pick. Saban knows what he's doing, and as Berman pointed out....Saban knows this player.

Saban liked what he saw at the combine.

any thoughts on Maurice Stovall in the 3rd, maybe even 4th round?

Hmmm...I kind heard this guy's name in the early second round....I kept saying..ok we're taking alongtime...we're trading down....

Ohhh well...It's gonna be fun for annoucers calling the Dolphins game...Allen with the coverage...Will or Jason? The Allens with the bracket coverage ...Wil playing Man,and Jason over the top....

Being an SEC fan, I've seen Allen play plenty of games ... he definitely has a motor and is supposed to be intelligent and of good character. I would have rather seen us trade down and pick up someone like him, but they don't pay us the big bucks so our opinions don't count. Unfortunately, our draft is over until much later ... wish we could of traded Ricky for a pick before he got busted ... SOB!

I hope Allen's hip won't be an issue... If it isn't, I trust Saban knows how to judge talent a fair piece better than I can, but I didn't have Allen on my radar for #16 at all.

He could slide to the 4th round...it looks like WR is being devalued a bit in this draft. If he does, he wouldn't be a bad pick at all. I don't project him as high as Avant or Haggan, but he's a big target at 6'4", and those have good upside in a league where DB's are getting bigger every year. I worry about his head...concentration lapses, dropsies, disappearing in plays where he isn't the primary target. He could mature and become a good one, but I think there could be better options for Saban in the 3rd-4th rounds.

Allen was a solid pick.  He is right up there with Huff in talent.

The injury dropped him back to us or he would have already been gone.

As of now, we don't have a 2nd.  Culpepper, remember?

I'll be honest, I'm a bit baffled by this pick.  If Saban wanted a DB, Williams and Cromartie were still there, as was OT Winston Justice (who tumbled all the way to the 33rd pick).  The fact that he was in the SEC says a lot about Saban's mentality.  Knowing who you were up against in college can either be a blessing or a curse.

Every time they flash on the screen that this is Miami's first defensive 1st round pick since Jamar Fletcher, it makes me sick.  I keep having to tell myself that I trust Saban's decisions.  I hope he hasn't let me down.
