America's team

« on: May 10, 2006, 08:56:52 am »

I am sure that you guys have heard the news that Ricky wants to play in the CFL to earn some money because he barely has 2 nickles to rub together and has 3 kids that he spends 0 time with to pay child support on. The decision is entirely up to Nick Saban if he lets him go or not.

What are your feelings ?

Mixed feelings. I doesn't prove anything as he is a known established player. It only serves a bonus because everyone will know where he is and can keep an eye on him. The chance of injury is the biggest negative. It is what it is. I think most of us have become indifferent to any news regarding Ricky at this point.

I think I'd let him play, because realistically, it's the only chance we have of getting him back.

It's hard to sit a full season and come back, and he's done it once.  I think doing it again would be even harder.

There's "shape" and then there's "football shape".  The CFL, while no NFL, would at least help him stay close.

I read something somewhere that the rules of the suspension say that he can't play in any other pro league during the suspension.

That would be too bad.

I say go forth, young man.  Play for the Argos.  Stay in shape, keep playing so the rust isn't too bad in 2007.

I would say that wasn't too credible. The NFL would have already spoken up on the issue if that was the case.

I have the Argo's ticket agent on speed dial... the moment they sign Ricky I'm buying season tickets at the 50 yard line.

Actually, what I've been reading is a little different.  I've read that his contract with the Fins prohibits him playing for another league.  However if the team wants to let him play for 1 season, they can waive this clause.  Obviously playing is good for Ricky and maybe the team since it keeps him in shape.  Not playing is also good for the team since there is much less injury risk.

I honestly don't care one way or another...I think he'll have, more trade value if he plays in Canada. He'll still be a 30 yr old rb when he comes back,if plays or doesn't play.I see the days of a 300 carry back are gone...Or atleast fading fast...

It doesn't surprise me for Ricky...It's all about the $$$$$
