I predict that Jerry Rice will sign one of those sham 1-day contracts with SF, just so he can be on the books as "retiring" this year.

With Favre's recent decision to play another year, it's a virtual lock.  There's no way that Jerry Rice is going to share the spotlight with Emmitt Smith when it comes time for HOF induction, and now that it's guaranteed that he wouldn't have to share it with Brett Favre, it's a foregone conclusion.

Keep in mind that this is the same guy who asked Steve Largent to unretire #80 (the only player jersey SEA has ever retired) so he could wear it; the same Steve Largent that was the all-time NFL leading receiver at his time of retirement.  So when you're dealing with that kind of ego, you have to consider HOF ceremony "mindshare" as a significant factor.

Wow, Spider taking a pot shot at an all-time great 49ers player. How completely unexpected...  Roll Eyes

Very good point Spider. Maybe that one day contract will be with the Raiders, since he is not on good terms with the Niners.
