By Brad Hostetter on June 22, 2006 01:12 AM Somebody has to go in order to thin the ranks of Miami Dolphins ' receiving corps.
Probably a couple of guys will be dropped. I'm glad I'm not the one who has to make that difficult decision regarding whom to drop, not that I'd mind the kind of salary that comes with it.
We all know that Chris Chambers and Marty Booker are the top two receivers, so there's no need to analyze those two. But where do we go from there? Wes Welker, Derek Hagan, Marcus Vick, Kelly Campbell, Frank Murphy, and Devin Aromashodu all deserve strong consideration, but there isn't enough room for them all.
Welker has performed admirably in his time with the club, but Vick and Aromashodu could be knocking at the door in that department. Murphy impressed in minicamp, and Campbell had his moments in Minnesota while Daunte Culpepper was at the helm. With a logjam like this, what's a personnel guy to do?
Here's how it will probably shake out. The team spent a high draft pick on Hagan, and he's expected to be a clutch first-down maker in the future. He stays. Welker has had good but unspectacular numbers as a returner so far. He increased his value last year by racking up over 400 yards and is probably the most polished receiver of the possible return men. He's not going anywhere. Miami got Vick for next to nothing, and he could be a big steal or a bust. He's going to be around for at least a year or two until the Dolphins can find out. Better that than cutting him and having it come back to haunt the team.
Campbell and Murphy will most likely fight it out for the final spot. Aromashodu should be the most worried of any Dolphins receiver. He's big and fast, and he had a terrific season at Auburn. No, wait--those are his career numbers. Aromashodu is also one of the seventh-rounders. They can't all make it.http://www.miamifootball365.com/articles/miami-dolphins/2006/miami-dolphins-receivers220606.html

I think Vick will probably end up on the practice squad, unless he just looks awsome in training camp.
Devin Aromashodu Frank Murphy
I think one them will also be on the practice squad....
I feel (Knock on wood that it wont) that Injury will determine who will make the team....
For some reason it seems like we have atleast 1 WR go down for most of the year...

Marcus Vick is a physical athletic specimen. He may not be the world's greatest QB, but we don't need him to be. Get him the ball in the open field, watch him deke one guy and outrun 10 others....
It'll be a good thing if he can keep his nose clean.
Seeing as so far he hasn't had any incidents, I think he's finally gotten the message.

You're right, but it's been almost five months since his last incident.
