I'm not saying that political threads should be excluded.  Actually, I sometimes enjoy reading and discussing different opinions.  However, no matter how well-intentioned a political thread starts out, it often seems like they turn out badly and locked...

I would like to take a vote here and see what the board thinks...  Assuming, the admins give this poll any regard, should the admins create a new forum called "Political Issues"?

The problem with political discussions on this board is that there isn't a discussion.  It's just one side telling the other side what the "facts" are, and then the other side disputing those "facts".  There is no discussion.

Hmmm I'm torn here...because sometimes...Topics that aren't political, end up in a political debate.....Personally...I wouldn't mind not seeing ANY politcal threads..I don't read 99% of them...I could care less about 99% of them...(now watch me start one in a couple of days)

I say yes. That way, those who enter know what's happening. Maybe put a warning that topics can and will get heated there. My political threads come in spurts because I try to lay off for the most part, but sometimes, (like yesterday) I go on a rant. (I'd rather be able to have open debate whenever) It gets heated, but I'm not going to confront someone at a tailgate based on their political beliefs. I'll drink beers and rag on the fans of the other team along with everyone else. (Those who were there for the Buffalo game can vouch for that. Politics never came up) Nor, would I reply (for example) to someone who disagrees with me politically in an NFL thread "You're just a liberal, so you don't know what you're talking about!!"

I'm a member of another board where politics is a heavy issue, but the board leans more conservative than liberal. I like to be in the political minority sometimes, and I'm definately in the political minority here.

Just something to think about. Sure, I'd like to see the political forum happen, but I won't get pissed if it doesnt.

No political forum.  The last thing I want on this site is more politics.
Think of me as the "president" of this website.

As president, I can pretty much do whatever I want without repurcussion.  If you disagree with me, you're with the terrorists.

(PS - I'm going to start reading your email to make sure you aren't Jets fans pretending to be Dolphins fans.   ...but don't worry, if you're not a Jet fan, you've got nothing to worry about.)

No problem, Mr. President!

I don't think the author's intention was to create more political threads, but just separate them.

I say yes.  That way the adults would have a forum on which to discuss politics and the kids wouldn't have their game thread section cluttered up.   Grin

Great impersonaton of a liberal impersonating the president and narrowly interpreting the "news" fed to you on CNN or Air America.   WELL DONE!

No need.  I could start a thread about the things I want to do to Megan Fox and somehow it would end up in a political fire storm.  Some people here (cough, cough) have nothing better to do than to try to inject their beliefs and standings into everything.  It would become a moderator nightmare, always moving threads around, etc.

Hoodie,

Tommy is the official TDMMC grave-digger.  If you want a thread bumped then please ask him via PM.

Thank you.
