I got a call from my old boss at Whirlpool yesterday afternoon...(technically I'm still employed there)

"B...Is your CDL license still good?"  I replied ..." Yeah  think so..Let me Look"
It was...He asked me to fill in as a Driver for a route today...They've been a day and a half behind for a little over a month now,and one of the drivers is off semi unexpectedly.Instad of being 2 and a half days behind monday,I took the Route...After bargining a little higher Pay...just over $14 an hour...

Did I mention I've not drove a Tractor trailer in about 3 years now?

So I called my Boss (Investigator Boss) to get the day off.He was was a little hesitant.I went right to bed,to get ready for a full day of delivery...

I Go to the Yard, open the truck door,Hop in,and take a deep breathe...I actually tool the tractor (no trailor) around the block to see if I remember how to drive it....I hooked the trailor, and off I went....

I had 11 Stops...The first 5 went like a breeze,a few people were in shock to see me again.
The worst part...on the 7th stop...It was a construction site.. I had to deliver,2 washer/dryers,and 3 Refridgerators. The Guy Takes the big Forklift,Puts the Wahsers and Dryers on and Leaves...The foreman tells me,Jump on that forlift (the GREAT BIG ONE) and take the Fridges to the third floor,2 buildings down....
I tell Him, I'm not certified to Drive it...
He syas...Ahh don't worry about it...
My Reply
I'll wait for the other guy...
He said He's not coming back....
So I drove my first Big Forklift, and didn't kill anyone, and didnt destroy anything, and didn't drop the Refridgerators...

(I've drive the small ones alot)

A couple of quick thoughts...
1.) I must have been in pretty damn good shape to do that daily...I can barely move,I hurt so bad..

2.) I work indoors an Awful lot...I got Sunburned on my forearms, neck, and Hands

3.) I Really miss my manual labor job....I hate the office politics, and all the B.S.

A pic of the type of forklift I'm talking about..

The Bad News,I'm sitting here at my Investigators job, catching up on the stuff I missed today...after working just over ten hour delivering appliances.

On the one hand, it was good to get the extra money...

On the other hand, it sucks to be swore and sunburn...

However, to me, it seems like you had all the bargaining power to get even more than $14/hour.

Are you on salary or hourly at your Investigator job?

If hourly, what was the point of taking one day off just to work another job?

Nope...It's pretty much Straight commission....If I work on a case..I get paid for that case...
